Who Is Shawn Simms, Jr.?
Shawn Simms, Jr. first became interested in track & field at the early age of 11 years old. From elementary to middle school, Shawn was noticed by various classmates and teachers for his speed in racing. In the Summer of 2004, Shawn enrolled in the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and won 1st Place in every event he ran in and achieved 16 metals overall in the 1600 meters relay, 400 meters relay, 200 meters and the 100 meters. Currently Shawn attends Livermore High School and has a 3.40 GPA. Because of his achievements, he has been recognized by the infamous DOWN UNDER SPORTS (DUS) organization for his natural talents in track & field. As a result, he has been invited to participate in the 2010 DOWN UNDER International Games hosted on the Gold Coast of Australia; AND by graciously accepting this invitation Shawn is the ONLY STUDENT from Livermore High School that will be competing in this event. What a Privilege!!!
In May, 2010, Shawn Simms, Jr. became the East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) and the North Coast Section (NCS) Champ in Track & Field winning the EBAL championship in Long Jump in a jump of 22'6" and then moving on to win NCS in a Long Jump of 22'10". YOU GO SHAWN!!!
Over the past 21 years DUS have helped over 40,000 athletes to live the dream of traveling to the land Down Under and they are anxious for Shawn to join the team for this one in a life time experience. DUS brings athletes from California and around the U.S. together to compete and to enjoy an unforgettable cultural experience which includes 7 days of competing and sight-seeing on the Gold Coast of Australia and 3-4 days relaxing and exploring the island of Oahu, Hawaii.
Shawn, his friends and family members are working diligently to raise the needed funds for him to attend this event. The cost for this lifetime experience for Shawn is $4,265.00. This covers the following:
+ International airfare aboard Qantas Airlines
+ U.S. Domestic Airfare for all states except California
+ All Australian domestic airfares
+ Transportation and transfers for all schedule activities
+ Two meals per day
+ All accommodations in 3 to 5 star facilities in Australia and Hawaii
+ Admittance to museums, theme parks, and other attractions per published itinerary
+ Accompanied by a local Down Under tour escort
+ All international taxes and tips
+ All tournament fees
